What is PCA Upgrade?
Some people start their career as a Personal Care Aide (PCA) but have not yet completed the Home Health Aide (HHA) program. After completing the PCA course, they can immediately—or at a later time—upgrade their PCA certification to an HHA certification. This process is called the PCA Upgrade to HHA.
We also offer this option at Lincoln Trade School. The main difference between the PCA Upgrade and the full HHA program is time and certification structure

What is different?
- The full HHA program takes 16 days and results in one HHA certification.
- The PCA + Upgrade to HHA path takes 14 days (can be split over time; it doesn’t have to be consecutive). You first earn your PCA certification and then the HHA upgrade, so you finish with two certifications.
Important:
- HHA certifications (including the PCA upgrade) can expire if not used for one year.
- PCA certification never expires, so you can renew your HHA upgrade as many times as needed.
- Since you already have the PCA certification, the upgrade course is only 7 days, keeping costs low and convenient.
This means you can maintain your credentials, expand your opportunities, and always keep your skills current at minimal time and cost.

What do we include?
Our PCA Upgrade to HHA class includes everything you need to succeed: uniform, book, equipment, and tools that you will use during the training. We are proud to offer the best tuition value in New York State.
The total cost of the program is $380. To enroll, you pay $30 for registration and $350 on the first day of class.
If you have already completed your PCA course with us and still have your uniform and book, we offer a discounted tuition of $330, with $30 for registration and $300 on the first day.
For your convenience, we accept cash, credit/debit cards, checks, and money orders.
