CLINICAL medical assistant (CMA)

What is a Clinical Medical Assistant?

The Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) Program is designed to prepare students with the clinical and administrative skills needed to work in medical offices, clinics, and outpatient healthcare facilities. A CMA plays a key role in supporting physicians and nurses by assisting with patient care, medical procedures, and front-office responsibilities.

This program provides comprehensive, hands-on training to prepare students for certification and entry-level employment in the healthcare field.

Students in this program learn a wide range of skills, including:

  • Taking and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration
  • Assisting physicians during examinations and minor procedures
  • Administering injections (as permitted by New York State regulations)
  • Performing Electrocardiograms (EKGs)
  • Phlebotomy (blood collection) and proper specimen handling
  • Medical terminology and anatomy
  • Infection control and safety procedures
  • Patient intake, documentation, and electronic health records (EHR)
  • Scheduling appointments and basic medical office administration

Difference Between MA and Our CMA Program

A Medical Assistant (MA) may refer to someone working in a medical office without formal certification.

Our Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) program provides structured training, hands-on practice, and preparation for certification, ensuring graduates meet professional standards and are fully prepared to enter the workforce with recognized credentials.

This program is ideal for individuals who want a fast-track healthcare career that combines direct patient interaction with clinical and administrative responsibilities.
